For those of you who don't know already ... I live a very dull and boring life. Most of my life revolves around the following things ... car, computer, photography and ... shoot; I just realized that I need to find another hobby cause that list was short. Well, my self-esteem + hobbies could be discussed in another entry. I just wanted to post up the random pictures that I've had in my camera for the last couple of ... months, week, days so that rather than typing out a long boring entry, I can just view these pictures later on and remember what I did. Call me lazy but I just thought this was easier.
From left to right. 1. Butt slices ... just thought that was a funny name for wire-connectors. Also, Pearls Before Swine comic book! Thanks to Daniel for getting me that for Christmas. 2. The reciept for ... butt slices. Yes, I know how old I am! 3. The LED map lights I bought for my rear view mirror lights. A comparison between the LED vs. regular lights. 4. The LED map lights before I inserted the butt slices + redid the wiring. 5. The LED map lights after I the butt slices + rewired. 6. A front shot of the rear view mirror.
I had the toughest time removing the front cover off that damn rear view mirror! Its a bunch of plastic tabs that hold the mirror in place but they're super tough to pop out! Plus, I really didn't want to damage / break the glass since it'd be a pain to clean up + drive around with no rear view mirror for a while but ... the end result was fantastic! I don't have a picture of how they look like installed in the car but ... they're super duper brighter than the regular stock ones. Hooray for not shorting anything! From left to right 1. One of the many black cats around my neighborhood. 2. This cat has the strangest colored eyes. Strange but pretty! 3. Another picture of the black cat just walking around. 4. A zoomed out shot of what I was taking close-up shots of.
This was just me killing time on a Sunday afternoon. I decided on using my 75-300mm lens because it was collecting dust on my floor so ... this is was resulted from my boredom. I really feel bad for the owner of that white Lancer because she always has a ton of scratches + paw marks all over her car cause the cats like her car.
From left to right. 1. The stereo face removed from my head unit. 2. Back circuit board of my stereo face. 3. Another shot of the circuit board. 4. The 1/4mm screw that haunted me for a week! I couldn't find a 1/4mm nut-driver locally so I ended up purchasing one online. Only costed me 6 bucks but I had to wait a freaking week for it. 5. The regular head unit lights on the left / the new LED lights + resistors on the right. 6. A closeup of the stock lights on the circut board.
This project was fustrating, annoying and challenging at the same time. That stupid 1/4mm nut really drove me crazy to the point where I was ready to start trying to remove them with a needle nose plier but I ended up waiting the week for the 1/4mm nut-driver in the mail. I couldn't believe that no one has / had a 1/4mm nut-driver! Maybe I was looking in the wrong places (I tried all the hardware, hobby and electronics shops in the Fullerton, Brea, Anaheim, Buena Park area) but its a common tool! Some people didn't even believe me when I told them I had a 1/4mm nut screw. Anyhoo, this project ended up turning out real well in the end. I ended up spending a bit more than I expected because I had to buy another sawdering iron (the one I had was too big + hot for small electronics) and took way longer than I thought but I got to learn how to make good / solid beads of sawder on a circuit board + the LED lights look wicked! Once again, I don't have any pictures of the LED lights installed on the stereo but ... they do look fancy! Actually, one of the lights burnt out a couple of days ago, which means I'm going to have to either order a couple more LED lights or its just that maybe I didn't properly sawder the light on properly but as soon as I get some free time, I'll give it another go.
Actually, now that I remember, this day super-sucked for me because not only did I spend 3 hours sawdering all the LED lights on the board, I found out that I installed a couple of them backwards! So after reinstalling the lights, I installed the stereo unit and a loose stereo wire caused this huge short in my car and my stereo lights, gauge lights and fog lights completely turned off. It seems that there was a exposed wire in my car that was completely BARE but it just didn't short the car until that day! I had to trace the wire back all the way to the engine compartment (through the firewall, which is a batch!) and stayed up till 4am redoing that wire and driving to a 24 hours Walgreens to get a 5-amp fuse to get my lights working again. That day sucked ... stupid previous owner!
This picture speaks for itself! The two Ha kids both needed help with their computer so a computer-day took place. Ron finally built his quad-core he bought from Black Day but he finally got around to buying 4 gigs of RAM and a spiffy computer tower; hence the reason why he's spooning with his new setup. Daniel on the other hand just is an idiot and had multiple viruses + crap on his computer that he couldn't remove. I think he still has the same issue now but ... shoot, you can't fix hopeless. So rather than doing my usual bitching after I fixed their computer, I just told them to pose for this picture and we'll call it even. Silly Ha kids.

From left to right 1. All the junk that was on + under my bed in the living room. 2. My new bed + my mattress ... my mattress looks pretty funky but its sooo comfortable! 3. I managed to hurt my ankle even before I got the instructions out of the box, hehe. 4. The Malm bed by IKEA. Seems that a lot of people seem to have this bed. 5. I thought this picture was funny because a certain someone was suppose to help me build this bed but ... I can't blame her. I also thought this picture was funny because what happens if you don't have a friend to build the bed with? 6. There I am, busy at work. And yes, I had to use the timer for this shot. 7. Another picture of me hard at work. 8. I ran into a problem. The headboard was much wider than my old bed so I had to move my desk + rearrange a couple of things to get my bed to fit. 9. Before the bed 10. After the bed. Noticed I used a computer as my "friend" to help me hold the bed together. 11. One thing lead to another and ... I had to rearrange a bunch of objects in my room. 12. My TV area changed the most. It's looks a bit odd but I heart that I can watch TV + play Wii from my bed now. 13. The wooden beams that seperate my mattress and the floor. I'm still a bit iffy on the fact that these wooden pieces are the only thing holding me + my mattress from the floor and bed. 14. My new bed + my bed sheets! I had to use the camera flash because I didn't want to get my tripod out ... and my bedsheets really isn't that bright.
This day sucked too! Hehe, seems that I have a lot of crappy but productive days. If you look at some of the pictures, I started off the bed project during daylight but finished when the sun went down ... and I know what you're thinking; Ben is a doof and it takes him forever to make a bed with simple instructions but the whole day, I was suffering from this pounding headache. And what made things worse was that I had no bed to crawl into so I could feel better ... so I ended up taking a nap in my parent's bedroom (the nap was for 5 hours) but I had my dad + my sib waking me up as soon as I fell asleep so I didn't fully rest / sleep. I think I woke up around 8-9pm and finished up the install and started rearranging my room. The computer that I used as a "friend" was not my computer (shoot, I'd never do that to my own computer) but a computer of a co-worker that needed her files backed up + fresh version of Windows installed. That computer had a insane amount of dust inside of it! It was the worst computer I've seen so far! My headache got better as I gradually rearranged my room and as the night went by, it nearly completely went away thanks to -you know who-. Just wanted to say thanks for always making me feel better.
From left to right 1. Today, we eat like men! Well, men who can barely cook. I had to stand on top of my chair to take this picture. 2. The gents enjoying our feast! 3. Ron grabbing his soda ... bad Ron! You're suppose to be eating healthy now a days! 4. Daniel presenting his pasta! These pictures were actually taken today (well, yesterday if you consider that it's almost 2am right now). Today once again ... super-sucked but ended with a good note. The day started off with a refreshing wake up call and having breakfast with my sib + our friendly sibling conversations (we usually just make fun of people). After breakfast, I decided on seafoaming my car's vaccum lines + throttle body & engine innards! For those who might not know, Seafoam is a chemical that's made out of petroleum which cleans + remove carbon deposits in your engine. Shoot, I'll even pitch the product (http://www.seafoamsales.com/). I've already thrown it in my gas lines + petrol tank and wanted to finish off my Seafoam project by cleaning my vaccum lines + engine valves. So, in order to successfully conduct this project, I needed another person. I called up Ron and he stopped by with Daniel to aid me in my Seafoaming adventures. Once I got the brake booster vaccum line undone, I needed Ron to start my car and give my car a bit of gas (acceleration, not gasoline) while I poured the Seafoam into my vaccum line. Well, one thing lead to another and my car was about to stall (cause I'm pouring liquid into a vaccum line ... basically semi-drowning the engine) when my car revved up (I'm guessing the ECU thought more revs = engine not dying) and the timing belt just comes undone! So at this point, I'm freaking out and screaming at Ron to turn off my car. After ruining my hand to redo my timing belt, I pour the rest of the Seafoam into my vaccum line, wait for about 15 minutes and start the car again ... and well; try YouTube-ing "seafoam car" and you'll see for yourself. I immediately get a huge cloud of smoke (which is good - its the carbon + petroleum burning up - which means its being removed from my vaccum lines) for about a good 3-6 minutes. The timing belt scare just completely shocked the hell out of me but I'm glad that the Seafoam project was a success.
After cutting up my hand and the smoke cleared, we headed to ShinSengGumi (which is a Japanese ramen house in Gardena; yuuummy!) to grab lunch, came back and helped Daniel with his Speech assignment and made dinner! Spaghetti with 1.5lbs of meat in the sauce, italian sausage, garlic bread and salad for the Ha kids (don't they know that you don't make friends with salad). All and all, a good rollercoaster of a weekend but I'm just happy that things didn't end up bad this weekend. I think everyone is a bit tired and recovering from this weekend ... more so than others. So, that's what I've been up to. If its not modding something on my car (Hawk brakepads, radiator flush, transmission oil change, differential oil change and oil change in about 200 miles cause of the Seafoam in my engine oil is next ... shoot!), taking pictures of random things, hanging out with the gents or building something, I'm either out and about or sitting at home. Oh, and my mom has been in Washington for the last 2 weeks so its just been me and my dad ... which is like a gift and a curse at times but I'm always trying to make the best of it. Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm and dry from this rain. Speedy recovery for the alligator too! Hope you're feeling better as you read ... I'm off to sleep! Goodnight; sleep well, sleep warm!
